SUMMARY:Youth Mental Health First Aid
DESCRIPTION:Youth Mental Health First Aid\nMarch 29\, 2019 9:00-5:30 \nLocation: Brooklyn Public Library\, 10 Grand Army Plaza\, \nBrooklyn\, NY 11238 \nTarget Audience: All public community members\nPlease note that the training session begins at 9:00 a.m.  In order to participate in this session\, it is important to arrive on time.  Anyone arriving after 9:30 a.m. will not be allowed to join the training.\n\nDescription:\nWe welcome all from the community of the Coordinated Children’s Services Initiative (CCSI) to attend a full-day Youth Mental Health First Aid course facilitated by staff from Vibrant Emotional Health! We believe that it is foundational to first understand and de-stigmatize mental health\, as well as help service providers\, parents\, and all community members to effectively address youth mental health issues as they arise.\n\nYouth Mental Health First Aid is a highly-interactive course intended to teach providers and community members how to respond more effectively to youth who experience a mental health challenge. \nThe training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.\nWho should attend?:  The training is designed for anyone who has contact with youth in their personal or professional lives. Professionals for whom this may be beneficial include supervisors\, case managers\, evening/night staff in residental settings\, security personnel\, peer advocates\, consumers and family members\, etc.\nAlthough the day is long\, it is engaging\, interactive\, and participatory.  We encourage all interested to attend! Upon completion of the day\, you will receive a certificate that lasts for 3 years\, certifying you as a Mental Health First Aider.\n\nThis course is generously sponsored at no cost to you by CCSI\, in collaboration with the NYC DOHMH and Vibrant Emotional Health.\nIf you are a staff member at Brooklyn Public Library\, please choose the “Brooklyn Public Library Staff” ticket. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Allie Sacks at asacks@vibrant.org.
