DESCRIPTION:About Family Empowerment Day\nEach year\, Families Together in New York State\, a non-profit\, family-run organization that strives to establish a unified voice for children and youth with social\, emotional\, behavioral and cross-systems challenges\, hosts a Family Empowerment Day (formerly Legislative Awareness Day) in Albany. Family members visit legislators to voice their concerns and share their stories\, and legislators join families for the luncheon\, awards and speakers during the afternoon. The annual event offers a forum to continue the ongoing and vital discussions regarding children’s behavioral health and the need to support families and young people. The goal of the day is to bring family members and advocates from across New York State together to meet with legislators and state leaders and have their voices\, concerns and needs heard.
